How will you celebrate New Years with the kids this year? Our little one was too young to care last year (and honestly probably is this year, too), but we'll do something to let her join in the fun. My family had our own New Years celebration at 8pm, 9pm or 10pm on New Years Eve -- late enough for the staying up to be a treat, but early enough to allow for parents or teenagers with plans to get to their other parties. We toasted with Martinelli's sparkling cider and played games together, and then had our own countdown to the appointed hour and sometimes a balloon drop. Will you do something special this year?
Post your ideas below and look for compiled answers in January's newsletter! Thanks, and be safe this season!

When I was younger my neighborhood would round up a midnight mini-parade and it would culminate at our house with a firework display. Now it usually involves Chinese takeout and an early bedtime.
This year we are going to a kid-friendly party where we will toast the new year at 8PM! The party starts at 6 and those who aren't getting up 3 times a night to feed an infant will probably stay for the actual ringing in of the new year. But, for those of us who can't fathom staying up past 10 there will be an earlier toast. It's actually a more exciting plan than we've had for the last few years and I'm looking forward to it!
Jennifer says, "Last year Ryan was only 5 weeks old and I honestly do not remember anything, not even where we were at the time. This year, I will attempt to adopt and modify the Spanish tradition of eating 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight. Since Ryan loves grapes and loves to shove as many pieces of food in his mouth as possible, I thought it would make the most sense. We will all eat grapes together before his bedtime; Ryan will get 12 pieces of grape and my husband and I will try 12 grapes each. Should be fun.

Jen Strach says, "I am definitely curious to see if anyone has any good ideas. We don’t have any plans this year, and aren’t quite sure what to do. However, last year we had family in town and we put Maya to bed upstairs, and then all went down to the basement to watch the ball drop and celebrate. We were far enough away that we could use our noise makers and yell a little without waking her up."
This is our first New Year's Eve with a baby, and I am thinking we'll invite my sister and her boyfriend over (since they think all the expensive NYE hoopla is overrated), eat some shrimp and drink champagne while watching the ball drop. That way we can still put Ava to bed at her normal time and WE can get to bed right after midnight! :)
